Nike runnng club

This is Chris from Niketown! Him and Bruno gave me a pair of Nike Equalons (Nike +) to test out during my run!

**

Ok so alll of you that know me know that I am a big fan of running and my goal is to eventually run a marathon. So let the process begin! And the following chain of events occured... I really love my ipod and running to loud music so I ventured to ask my parents if I could get those sneakers that tracks running mileage, pace, and other data through your Nano. Upon this request, my dad asked what the heck are those? I asked Veronica corningstone (aka Kristen my friend who has these bad boys) what the name of hers were and she told me Nike+. I googled and found the best site ever for runners athletes and the like. Stumbling upon the Nike Running Club and realizing that there was a group organized by Niketown to go running every Tuesday Wednesday and Saturday I said to myself I need to get on this pronto! After work I excitedly got to a 5 floor mac daddy Nike store on 57th and 5th! I went over to where a few workers were standing by a sign that said "NIKE Running" and asked them about the club! Salim was the guy I asked and he gave me a waiver form to fill out! Then I went on a shopping spree to buy proper running gear for 30 degree weather! One Niketown worker recomended getting stretch pants with a type of insalated stuff to keep my legs warm! She knew her stuff too cause not only did these pants keep me toasty warm on my run I think I looked pretty cool n cute in em! Ok so on to the best part...

Running 3 miles in central park! To start there were about 100 people who showed up at the Niketown and after the coach made some general housekeeping anouncements and safety instructions ("no one runs alone") we did a lil warm up run to central park and broke up into 3-4 mile, 5 mile and 7 mile groups. Since I am still considered a beginner I took the 3-4 mile group. Tracey was one Nike Pacer that befriended me and told me the deal: basically the run starts and the pacers are the leaders with a pedomitor to track their "pace" (9 min mile, 10 min mile, etc). So you just follow them and try to keep up. IT was freezing out but I def was warm in my new stuff . The new Equalons felt lighter then my old ones, and had a little more spring in my step. Overall it just felt easier to run in!! So I made it 3 miles and along the way the Nike Pacers were motivating me and all the runners along with some new running buddies Holly and Debbie.

After the run we all met back at Nike Town.. since I don't have my ipod hooked up yet to the sneakers I don't know my time or the exact milage but the mile markers that the Pacers told me were 3 miles... plus I did 4 miles on Saturday! So that is 7 miles this week!

Will keep ya posted on the next run and hope fully I will have abetter knowledge of how the ipod sneakers work!!!
