Hmm

Intesting protest out side of us army building, they were protesting. I tried to zoom in on the picket signs but it came out too blurry. I am assuming they were against the war. They were chanting a few lines too. Just couldn't understand what they were saying. Word of advice: bigger signs and clearer sayings!

Running!

Salim helped me out checking in and giving me some info on the whole Running Club basics... Thanks Salim!!!

AA

Nike runnng club

This is Chris from Niketown! Him and Bruno gave me a pair of Nike Equalons (Nike +) to test out during my run!

**

Ok so alll of you that know me know that I am a big fan of running and my goal is to eventually run a marathon. So let the process begin! And the following chain of events occured... I really love my ipod and running to loud music so I ventured to ask my parents if I could get those sneakers that tracks running mileage, pace, and other data through your Nano. Upon this request, my dad asked what the heck are those? I asked Veronica corningstone (aka Kristen my friend who has these bad boys) what the name of hers were and she told me Nike+. I googled and found the best site ever for runners athletes and the like. Stumbling upon the Nike Running Club and realizing that there was a group organized by Niketown to go running every Tuesday Wednesday and Saturday I said to myself I need to get on this pronto! After work I excitedly got to a 5 floor mac daddy Nike store on 57th and 5th! I went over to where a few workers were standing by a sign that said "NIKE Running" and asked them about the club! Salim was the guy I asked and he gave me a waiver form to fill out! Then I went on a shopping spree to buy proper running gear for 30 degree weather! One Niketown worker recomended getting stretch pants with a type of insalated stuff to keep my legs warm! She knew her stuff too cause not only did these pants keep me toasty warm on my run I think I looked pretty cool n cute in em! Ok so on to the best part...

Running 3 miles in central park! To start there were about 100 people who showed up at the Niketown and after the coach made some general housekeeping anouncements and safety instructions ("no one runs alone") we did a lil warm up run to central park and broke up into 3-4 mile, 5 mile and 7 mile groups. Since I am still considered a beginner I took the 3-4 mile group. Tracey was one Nike Pacer that befriended me and told me the deal: basically the run starts and the pacers are the leaders with a pedomitor to track their "pace" (9 min mile, 10 min mile, etc). So you just follow them and try to keep up. IT was freezing out but I def was warm in my new stuff . The new Equalons felt lighter then my old ones, and had a little more spring in my step. Overall it just felt easier to run in!! So I made it 3 miles and along the way the Nike Pacers were motivating me and all the runners along with some new running buddies Holly and Debbie.

After the run we all met back at Nike Town.. since I don't have my ipod hooked up yet to the sneakers I don't know my time or the exact milage but the mile markers that the Pacers told me were 3 miles... plus I did 4 miles on Saturday! So that is 7 miles this week!

Will keep ya posted on the next run and hope fully I will have abetter knowledge of how the ipod sneakers work!!!

Columbus circle

Love it! Went out with Marlena, my friend from the Delray Beach ITC, and went to Clo in Columbus Circle... Now I have been to wine tastings before but this was an interactive wine tasting with touch screen tables and all! I would recomend this place for a girls night out or first date! We tasted cheeses (manchetta, blue cheese, chedder, etc) They were delish and perfectly paired with some spicy copa. But def make plans to eat afterwards because the cheese and meats platter def is not big enough to fill you up (well cheese and wine is never meant to fill you up)! We tasted wine with Marelena's friend Rachel and then went over to Amsterdam Tappas by Columbia! Good times, Good Times! We had a three tiered platter of appitizers: quessadillas, mederterainian hummus, wings, oh gosh you name it! We continued to drink some fruity drinks and then went downstairs where they had a club type bar that was packed with Columbia Students... God I miss college and the good ol' days!!

Reporting live from Halloween town!

We joined a Halloween parade! When I say we I mean J9 and Kristen (her roomy). And when I say Halloween Town i really mean Rockville Center... the best place on earth! Well besides massapequa and North bellmore... oh and delray beach in Fl. Yea so we literally saw this parade walking back to J9's place from brunch and decided to join! Then we went on a mad search for a pumpkin farm and this being Rockville Center... well there are no pumpkin farms but there was a church with pumpkins in their yard and selling them! What a trip!

Can't beat this

Walking to penn station everyday by means of time square!! Even though I am not feelling in the best of spirits today (cough cough throat hurts today) I am still walking my route! The past few days walk to Penn was quite interesting! I saw a man with his face completely tattooed asking people to play a game of chess, elmo dancing on the corner, a band, a guy handing out Sara palin condoms, the dentene ice marketing street team handing out delicious pieces of gum, oh and of course last week was the netflix booth. They are trying to break the world record for watching the most movies in so many hours ... Fun fun fun! Till next time! Chaio

Currently reporting from the BMW Ultimate Drive

There has been a steady crowd waiting in line to drive these decked out BMW's. Everyone is really excited to get to drive and raise money for such a great cause ! There is food, music and lots of pink ribbon -esque festivities!
AA

BMW ultimate drive today

Waiting on the plateform in bellmore. Heading to Manhattan today to help out at the BMW ultimate drive! Every one can show their support by test driving one of the 25 specially designed BMW's! BMW donates on your behalf $1 for every mile driven to Susan G. Komen for the Cure! I love my job doing these special events not because its such a fun event but because this one event is actually part of a year long grassroots fundraiser initiative traveling across the country to over 210 cities with a goal of reaching 1 milllion miles to donate a total of $1 mill for the Cure! And not to mention this is the 12th consecutive year of the BMW ultimate drive and every year they have met that goal! This year would make for a total of $12 mill!! That's hot in my book! So check this event out because if you participate you will actually be part of a huge thing that could actually make a difference!
